London Met. team help deliver training workshop in Morocco

Between 17 - 19 November, the Mediterranean port city of Tangiers hosted the last in a series of training workshops for the 12 projects active in this 4th phase of the EU's EuroMed Heritage programme

The theme of the workshop was how these particular projects can sustain and embedd the results of 2-3 years work thus far. Over the 3 busy days we discussed issues including:

  • Website sustainability after a project's initial funding ceases
  • Further networks and partnerships - including new structures such as associations
  • Embedding project outcomes in policy and civil society
  • Embedding results within educational institutions
  • Commercial opportunities - these are only possible under EU regulations once the initial funding cycle is completed

As with all of the workshops we were also eager to demonstrate how the theory looked in practice. This took the form of an extensive guided walk around the Casbah of Tangiers, lead by our hosts in Morocco the Siwa-Tanger project team.

Discussions continued throughout as we explored the visible outputs from this fascinating EuroMed Heritage initiative, and the challenges they face to ensure there is plenty of life after the project!
