Another PhD project this time embarked upon by Cyntia de Andrade from Brazil,  who has been planning a route for Afro-American cruise tourists looking to rediscover their heritage roots.

Cyntia has taken oral history registers from people in Cape Verde, Pernambuco, Ilhéus and Salvador de Bahía with respect to African roots and Routes. She plans together with other PhD Students to put together cruise packages which re-trace the slavery routes but with a less dramatic tint, looking at combining responsible tourism, gastronomic tourism, oral history and cruise tourism all in one while promoting investment in Africa.

In summary the broad foci are: responsible cruise tourism + gastronomy + oral history

The project objective is to empower women and to educate children to provide cultural routes/roots on board the cruises and onshore at the various stops. The project also links up with the 'Out of Africa' project (Cape Verde, Pernambuco and Salvador de Bahía) and provides information for the database associated with that project.
